BOOK OF THE FAITH

TRAILER

DESCRIPTION

We believe that the show Ozark has several scenes where the characters mention the Bible and each scene can help us to understand the Bible more. The Bible isn't a clean story full of people who did the right thing all of the time. Jesus lived among sinners.

The book is inspired by the Hymnals that Ash passed out to Mason’s congregation in Season 1 of Ozark.

It isn’t meant to be read cover to cover in one sitting. It is more like a reference guide. Inside of the book are timestamps that invite you to watch a scene in the show that explains a verse from the Bible.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

  • Marty Byrde is a financial advisor who launders money for a drug cartel. His business partner steals from the cartel and Marty is forced to move from Chicago to the Ozarks to pay back the money that was stolen.

  • This is for people who are currently considering ethical questions around their career.

It uses the Bible, and scenes from the show Ozark to help you gain a new perspective

  • This is not a Bible. We believe there is no substitute for reading the Bible, but we also recognize that there are parts of the Bible that leave people with more questions. This is meant to help you answer those questions in a way that is unique to your own life.

  • In Season 1 Episode 10 of Ozark, the character Ash is seen putting heroin inside a book that is called “Hymnal of the Faith.” This is how the Snells discretely sell heroin during Mason’s church services.

We thought it would be interesting to flip that idea on its head. The Bible itself can be what keeps people from recognizing its truth. The stories can feel outlandish and impossible. What if you could make a book that was inspired by the show and among other things, explains the Bible with scenes from the show? You can. We did.

The look and feel of this book, is inspired by a traditional bible. It is also very durable and made to last as long if not longer than the Bible you may have on your shelf today.

  • There are two parts to the book: a reference guide and a devotional.

The reference guide section contains seven chapters which contain quotes from the Bible, and time stamps of scenes from the show that best explain the Bible verse. It also explains easter eggs, and excerpts of books from the Bible that are related to the characters (ex. The Book of Ruth, and the story of Jonah).

The devotional contains questions that focus your thinking to answer questions about your career.

  • To begin, the definition of blasphemy is saying something concerning God that is disrespectful.

We believe that this book is not disrespecting Christianity but paying respect to it in a modern way. It invites Christians and those who do not believe in God to look at the Bible in a new light.

The bible says: “ every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a household which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.” - Matthew 13:52

We believe this reference guide is an example of that. Connecting older ideas from the bible, with new examples from popular culture.

The author is a Christian and in order to identify the Bible references from the show, he first had to spend years studying the word of God before the show was released, and then he spent years collecting the material for this reference guide.

Also, the Bible was full of stories of betrayal, and murder. For example, Cain killed his brother Abel; and Jesus was put to death after Judas betrayed him for 30 pieces of silver.

  • Yes! This book only covers the references from Seasons 1 and 2. There are a lot more in Seasons 3 and 4.

  • We think you can gain insights into the decisions you can make by looking at those questions in a different way.

Consider this book a set of glasses. On one lens is the Bible and the other lens is the show Ozark. By using these pieces of literature and entertainment, it will help focus you to come up with clear answers for those questions

  • This book has two parts: a devotional, and a reference guide.

By a devotional we mean it helps devote you to making a commitment to think about the ethical questions in your career.

By a reference guide, we mean that you can refer to the chapters for insights about stories in the bible. You don’t have to read it cover to cover in one sitting.

You could even keep it on your coffee table as a conversation piece. But we think you will get the most value from using it daily and constantly reflecting on the questions.
